Packing & unpacking servicesA Solely Junk company

Downsizing with family

A shared plan.
Clear decisions.

When more than one person is helping with a home transition, agree on the decisions before the packing work begins.

Identify who will confirm the scope, timing and changes with the team. Family members can contribute priorities, but the crew needs a clear way to resolve questions without guessing.

Agree who can make final decisions about belongings. Packahome can help with the practical sorting and packing tasks in the approved scope; it does not take over decisions about ownership, resale or disposal.

  • Walk through the selected rooms before packing day.
  • Write down belongings or categories that are definitely being kept.
  • Set aside anything another family member needs to review.
  • Mark destinations when belongings are going to more than one place.
  • Keep proposed removal items separate until their scope and price are approved.

An ask-first area keeps uncertain belongings out of both the packing and removal piles. It can also prevent the whole project from stopping while a single item is being discussed.

If decisions are still being made, start with a smaller agreed scope. A completed bedroom or a clearly approved set of belongings may be a better first step than assuming the entire home is ready.

Valuations, resale, donation acceptance, transport and any estate administration are separate from a standard sorting and packing scope. Confirm those arrangements with the appropriate people rather than treating a labeled pile as a completed handoff.
