Your packing session
From the first box
to a useful handoff.
A good visit has a clear start, agreed priorities and a point where you can see what is finished and what comes next.
Before the visit.
Share the rooms, approximate contents, move date and access details. Identify items needing special care and confirm who is supplying boxes, paper, tape and labels. Review the written scope, price and timing before confirming.
- Keep documents, keys, medication, jewelry and cash with you.
- Set aside an open-first kit for the next day and night.
- Mark what to pack, what to leave and anything that needs your decision.
- Make work surfaces and the agreed staging area accessible.
Start with a walkthrough.
Review the agreed rooms with the team. Point out your first priorities, items that should stay out and any existing damage or special handling needs. Confirm the planned time and who can approve changes.
During the work.
Group belongings by destination, use the agreed packing materials and label the contents and room clearly. An ask-first area keeps undecided items together. A progress check should happen before the planned time or budget is exhausted.
You remain in control of decisions about your belongings. Added rooms, materials or time need approval.
Finish with the next step clear.
- Walk through completed areas and remaining tasks.
- Identify the essentials and boxes that should be opened first.
- Review items needing your decision or specialist attention.
- Confirm where boxes and empty materials have been placed.
- Review the recorded time and approved charges.
For unpacking, usable everyday spaces come first. Gathering empty boxes onsite can be part of the scope; hauling them away is a separate service.
What to discuss separately.
Truck loading, transportation, heavy furniture, mounting and installations are outside a standard packing session. Tell the team about artwork, unusual fragile items or specialty collections before including them in a plan.
