Packing notes

Keep. Ask first. Remove..

Sorting becomes easier to manage when an undecided item has somewhere to go. Three clearly marked areas help separate packing work from decisions about disposal.

Keep a practical copy beside your packing plan.
  • Identify the belongings going to the next home or storage.
  • Add room or destination notes where useful.
  • Keep the packing scope limited to the agreed areas.
  • Use a separate area for belongings needing review.
  • Identify the person authorized to make the final decision.
  • Avoid packing or removing undecided items by assumption.
  • Describe proposed removal items for a separate estimate.
  • Do not mix keep items into the removal area.
  • Approve the removal scope and price before anything is hauled away.

A useful detail

A proposed donation area is not the same as a confirmed donation. Acceptance and transport still need to be arranged.

Use the guide to prepare your own plan, or ask for help with the rooms and tasks you would like to hand over.

A practical packing checklist

Pack in an order that lets you keep living in the home. A checklist is useful when it reflects your rooms and deadline, rather than an ideal timetable that no longer fits.
